Until five years ago, a bird was just a bird to Michele Wilson. Then, on a trip into the cloud forest of Costa Rica, she caught a quick glimpse of the three-wattled bell bird. The exhilaration of spotting a rare species, coupled with seeing the look of satisfaction on her guide's face, had Michele hooked--and she's been watching the skies ever since. Having recently earned a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, Michele is now thrilled to have the chance to nurture her love of writing about birds and their surroundings as Audubon's assistant editor.
