Emily Achenbaum Harris

Emily in Patagonia, Argentina.
Emily Achenbaum Harris is a former newspaper reporter who covered mostly crime and wrongful convictions. She left her staff job at the Chicago Tribune in May 2009 to learn to grow her own food, make things by hand and downshift to a life in North Carolina with less “stuff." She continues to write on a freelance basis about simplicity, the environment, consumerism and health. Despite growing up hiking, camping, and receiving a great liberal arts education at the University of Michigan, Harris regularly finds she knows far too little about basic agriculture and frontier-leaning outdoors skills.
