Bird Madness: Soaring Sixteen #3
11/27/2012
In a close victory, the image of a woodpecker on a tree beat out the photograph of bluebirds in snow in the second round of Bird Madness.
In round three, we have a black-and-white warbler versus a rufous hummingbird. Vote for your favorite and the winner will move on to the next round.

Wondering what’s going on? From now until the beginning of January 2013, we’ll be pitting some of the entries from this year’s Photo Awards (selected in no particular order) against one another for you to vote on. We’ll feature the winner on our website, along with an article about how she or he captured the shot.
In our January-February 2013 issue, we’ll feature the official winners of the awards, selected by our panel of judges.

Is it really fair to post just one bird on your FB post? Obvious advantage goes to the hummingbird who is so prominently displayed. Fair?

On the magazine's Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/audubonmagazine), we posted one photo yesterday, the other photo today.
Rufous
I vote for the Rufous hummer- I have a soft spot for them. It's Nov 27th and I have a female Rufous at my feeder here in southern Ohio! Amazingly hardy birds, and beautiful!
