Audubon at the House of Organic Fashion Show

As part of New York City’s Fashion Week, environmentally conscious designers put their runway collections in the spotlight and illuminated an eco component of the bi-annual event. Audubon was there to see the House of Organic show, where eight designers debuted their styles at 311 East 11th Street, a LEED-gold certified apartment building.

The designs “intertwined spidery crocheted detailing, hand-painted ink swirls, and artful draping. The result is at once eclectic and enthralling, much like the designers themselves,” according to the article on Ecouterre.

All of the materials that Johanna Hofring, Meiling Chen, Tor Söderin, Renata Mann, Mika Machida, Kaori Yamazaki, and Melissa Kirgan and Eko-Lab’s Xing-Zhen Chung-Hilyard showcased were certified organic—except for some vintage details.

Separately and as a collection, the clothes exhibited a romantically feminine quality that showed the chic character of green design. In the November-December issue, Gretel Schueller explores the exciting future of the industry. This show was just one of many displays of how designers are increasingly considering the environment in their compositions.

In case you didn’t catch them, the clothes, including crocheted dresses, classic coat, and wedding gown featured in the video are listed, in order, below.
